After a long and extensive search for the most sustainable fabrics, we fell in love with the natural comfort and durability of plant-based TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers, using them to create our superiorly soft and oh-so-cuddly TierraLuxe™ fabric.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY JOURNEY

Our commitment to sustainability isn’t over once our products come out of the factory. We understand a commitment to sustainability requires a holistic approach, including the most sustainable fabrics, production, and packaging.

NATURAL, RAW RESOURCES

TENCEL™ fibers are one of the most sustainable fabrics thanks to their wood pulp origins, a carbon-neutral raw and renewable material. We source our TENCEL™ fibers from manufacturers that only use wood from sustainably sourced and managed farms and forests. Learn more about TENCEL™.

ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND FABRIC PRODUCTION

Not only are TENCEL™ fibers certified biobased and biodegradable but they are produced within a highly sustainable closed-circuit system. That means 99% of the water and organic, non-toxic solvents used during production are recovered and reused. The remaining 1% is completely harmless to the environment.

PREMIUM ECO-FRIENDLY FABRIC

TENCEL’s superiority doesn’t stop at sustainability. It’s buttery soft to the touch and gentle on sensitive skin yet high in quality and durability. Additionally, moisture-wicking and temperature-regulating properties add to the fabric’s premium nature. In other words, we choose premium fabrics that are better for babies and the environment without giving up the premium look and feel you desire for your baby.

SMALL-BATCH MANUFACTURING

In an attempt to reduce our resource use, we vow to never mass-produce our products. Instead, we minimize our waste and carbon footprint by manufacturing small batches of our styles. Crafting our clothing and accessories in small batches also allows us to ensure the utmost care and quality for each piece. This approach to manufacturing leads to better results for your baby and the planet.

ETHICAL PRODUCT PRODUCTION

We don’t just care about the planet—we care deeply about people too. That’s why we vetted our manufacturing facilities to ensure the ethical treatment of their employees. Once our sustainable fabrics head to our manufacturers, we sleep soundly knowing the people helping to bring our vision to life are working under safe and humane conditions and earning fair wages.

INNOVATIVE PRODUCT TESTING

We are not here to cut corners at the cost of the environment. That’s why we use cutting-edge technology and 3D design to ensure we achieve the right style and fit without wasting valuable resources and materials with each iteration. This approach cuts the number of samples needed in half while helping reduce up to 80% of the re-elaboration processes for each garment. This results in optimal comfort, fit, and style for your Little Sprout without harsh environmental impact.

FSC-CERTIFIED MATERIALS

We don’t stop at finding the most sustainable fabrics. Additionally, all boxes, cardboard, hang tags, and belly bands are FSC Certified, meaning materials were sourced from FSC Certificated forests, recycled materials, or FSC-controlled wood. You can feel good knowing these materials originate from forests that are managed with the environment, economy, and people in mind.

That includes staying true to our commitment to sustainability long after our designs come to fruition, never burning or destroying unsold merchandise, despite the practice gaining popularity in the industry.

EARTH-CONSCIOUS PACKAGING

We’ve opted to protect your purchases and the planet by using bags made from 100% corn starch, a renewable resource free of harmful chemicals. Our cornstarch packaging is entirely biodegradable. Therefore, once they’ve brought you all the cozy cuddles, our bags can revert to the earth where they came from.

Let’s Talk About Microplastics

Did you know 35% of the microplastic pollution found in the world’s oceans can be traced to the textile industry? The main culprit? Popular synthetic materials.

These microplastics, or tiny pieces of plastic, are released into the environment each time you wash these materials. From there, the microplastics runoff into rivers, lakes, and, ultimately, oceans, where they become a danger to wildlife—and us.

Not only are aquatic animals threatened by these pollutants, but small pieces of plastic threaten our own health by entering our bodies through the food chain.
